ABOUT THE FOUNDER:
Zuzzie Kapas is a San Diego-based interdisciplinary artist working across visual arts, dance performance, and the study of consciousness. Her creative process investigates the relationship between the body and nature, the aesthetic dimensions of creation, and the philosophical and metaphysical questions that shape human experience.
Shaped by a lifelong exploration of her inner landscapes and a deep curiosity about the unconscious, Zuzzie approaches her creative process with fluency in both the lived experience of the psyche and the enduring language of symbols. This foundation deepens her visual art and movement-based expression, giving rise to work that is both personal and symbolically expansive, opening a space for viewers to reflect upon the currents of their own lives.
Alongside her expression as an interdisciplinary artist, Zuzzie spent over a decade facilitating spaces for deeper inner exploration in the setting of nature-based retreats, where she contributed as a co-organizer and eco-somatic facilitator. She guided group journeys through somatic movement exploration, incorporating improvised dance, and visual arts, curating spaces that supported collective psychological inquiry and invited self-reflection. These experiences, in turn, continually informed and enriched her ongoing research on the study of consciousness.
Within San Diego’s arts and culture sector, Zuzzie works in business administration, project management, and community engagement, bringing operational expertise to nonprofit arts organizations. She supports the coordination of exhibitions, public programs, and community initiatives, contributing to the operational backbone that allows creative projects to thrive. She strengthens the growth and vitality of the region’s arts community by supporting the visibility of emerging artists, cultivating meaningful collaboration, and expanding the reach of cultural initiatives.
